Sous Chef

Job description

Sous Chef – Luxury Nursing Home | £29,900 | 40 Hours per Week

Bring your culinary passion to a place where food makes a difference. As Sous Chef, you’ll help deliver high-quality, nutritious, and beautifully presented meals that enhance the wellbeing of every resident. This is your opportunity to combine your professional kitchen expertise with a meaningful role where your cooking has real purpose and impact.

Working closely with the Head Chef, you’ll take pride in creating delicious, balanced menus that cater to a variety of dietary needs — from texture-modified meals to specialist nutrition and allergy-conscious dishes. Every plate you prepare contributes to the home’s outstanding reputation for care, comfort, and exceptional dining experiences.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) within a supportive, well-equipped kitchen that values teamwork, high standards, and creativity.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef, ideally within a nursing home, healthcare, or professional hospitality environment.
  • Strong understanding of nutrition, dietary requirements, and food textures.
  • Solid knowledge of food hygiene, allergens, and safety regulations.
  • Creative and organised, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with a hands-on, team-focused approach.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Company pension scheme
  • Free onsite parking
  • Access to an exclusive benefits portal
  • Staff recognition and reward programmes
  • Long service awards
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and serve fresh, nutritious meals in line with residents’ preferences and dietary requirements.
  • Support the Head Chef with menu development, stock control, and kitchen organisation.
  • Ensure all meals meet food hygiene, allergen, and safety standards.
  • Adapt dishes for individual needs, including modified textures, allergies, and hydration-focused nutrition.
  • Supervise and support kitchen assistants to maintain a smooth and efficient operation.
  • Uphold the home’s premium dining experience, ensuring every mealtime is enjoyable and person-centred.
