Head of Finance – From £60,000 – 37.5 hours per week
Our client, a respected and growing healthcare organisation, is looking for a Head of Finance to join their senior leadership team. This is a key appointment for someone who thrives in a values-led, service-oriented environment and brings both strategic insight and operational know-how.
Based in a supportive and mission-driven organisation, the Head of Finance will take the lead in shaping and delivering a robust financial strategy to support the company’s goals. The ideal candidate will bring a strong track record of leadership, staff management, and financial governance—alongside a desire to make a real difference in people’s lives.
As Head of Finance, the successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, delivery, and oversight of the financial strategy across the organisation. Reporting directly to the senior executive team, they will ensure that financial systems and reporting frameworks are future-proof, resilient, and aligned with the needs of a modern, regulated healthcare service.
This role offers the opportunity to make a genuine impact—working across departments to support long-term planning, ensure financial compliance, and drive operational efficiency.
What We’re Looking For
- CCAB-qualified (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, ICAEW) – essential
- Degree-level education in finance, accounting, or a related field – essential
- Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role, preferably in the healthcare or not-for-profit sector
- Demonstrated success in staff line management and team development
- Strong understanding of strategic financial management
- Experience working with auditors, regulators, and payroll systems
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly
- High level of integrity, sound judgement, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Full UK driving licence and access to transport – essential due to occasional travel across service sites

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and implementation of the company’s financial strategy
- Oversee budget monitoring and forecasting, ensuring cost-effectiveness and financial sustainability
- Ensure financial systems and processes support current and future business needs
- Deliver timely and accurate financial reports and analysis to internal and external stakeholders
- Support audit preparation and delivery to meet regulatory and compliance standards
- Work closely with the payroll manager to ensure smooth and compliant payroll operations
- Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate financial controls
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, external regulations, and legislation
- Manage and develop the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment
